Tuesday evening wine tasting

This evening we had our final wine lecture of the term, including a wine tasting of 6 wines and all the info about what we need to be studying for our wine exam which shall be next Wednesday. It will be a hundred question exam.

Our wine lecturer in Colm McCan the Sommelier from Ballymaloe House.

1. Pinot Grigio ‘Trefili’, Cantine San Marziano, Italy 2008 A very popular wine. It is light and refreshing, a perfect start to an evening of wine tasting. I t has a fresh, zesty, citrus character. Good to serve with salads and light food.

2. Domaine Weinbach Riesling Schlossberg, Alsace Grand Cru, France 2007 Domaine Weinbach was a monastery built in 1612 by capucine monks who made wine on their original5 hectares of the clos. The Domaine is now managed by two sisters, Catherine and Laurence Faller.

3. Lawsons Dry Hills Gewurztraminer, Marlborough, New Zealand 2007
